How to become an affiliate

If you want to get a piece of the billions of dollars being spent online each year, it's time you learn how to become an affiliate.  I'm sure you've heard of the big companies like Amazon and E-Bay, but did you know that they expanded astronomically due to affiliate leads?  These are just two of thousands of companies that offer an affiliate program.  This means that they will pay people to lead customers to their site and make a sale.  Have you ever bought anything from one of these sites or know someone who has?  Chances are they were lead to do so through the efforts of an affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is when a merchant gives an individual a commission for soliciting a sale for their product.  Basically, how to become an affiliate is to find someone looking for a solution, suggest a product that will provide that solution, and make money if they buy the product.

When looking for a group to market a product to it's best to target a niche within a market.  A niche is a small set of people within a broad market.  It is more targeted than most of the markets that will instantly come to your mind.  You may think, "I can promote weight loss products!", but a niche is "weight loss products for mothers who can't lose weight after pregnancy".  That is just an example.  There are millions of niches and every single one of them can be profitable.

How you advertise to these people who are looking for a solution is up to you.  There are several ways to do this and all of them are effective if done correctly.  You can drive the traffic through blogging, social networking, writing articles, or through pay-per-click advertising.  An experienced affiliate will apply a little of each, but it is better to start out with one and expand from there.

The sky is the limit once you learn how to become an affiliate.  When you work a day job, you get paid by the hour.  No matter how hard you work in that hour, you will not make any more money than what your boss has agreed to pay you.  With affiliate marketing, you get out of it what you put into it.  The harder you work, the more you make.  You alone are in control of the amount of money you make.  It is one of the only jobs in the world where you are in complete control of your future.

To expedite your path to success it's best to have a reliable resource available for information, training, and advice. There are both free and paid resources available. Beware though; anyone can call themselves an expert. Look for a resource you are comfortable with and feel you can trust.
