Benefits of Affiliate Marketing -  Compared to MLM, Network Marketing, and Direct Sales

You've probably seen the ads promising nearly limitless income for selling this or that product, joining this MLM or network marketing group, or becoming involved in this direct marketing organization. You may have tried some of these only to realize that you were either spending more money than you were making in order to stay involved or that you were not making any money at all because either your friends and family weren't interested in buying or you weren't interested in approaching them. Either way, you've discovered along the way that you weren't willing or interested in doing what it takes to be successful in these types of organizations. Perhaps you don't even know enough people for the law of averages to even begin to work in your favor.

Whatever the reason you've been unsuccessful in the past, there is no reason that your success can't change by following a new path and learning more about affiliate marketing and how to make that make money for you. Here are just a few of the benefits of affiliate marketing to consider before you make up your mind.

1) No, or very low, start up costs. You do not have to invest a lot of money to begin making money with affiliate marketing. You don't have to purchase a starter kit. You don't need to attend expensive seminars. You don't even need to have an expensive phone plan for weekly (or in the case of some MLM companies, daily) conference calls. You can start with a shoe string and make money quickly or no budget at all and build your affiliate marketing business one step at a time.

2) Keep your friends. Those who have tried more than one MLM company know that after a while your friends start running the other way when they see you coming. You don't need to pitch your friends when you are in the business of affiliate marketing. In fact, your friends do not even need to know what you are in business doing unless you want them to.

3) No pressure to succeed. Perhaps the greatest benefit of affiliate marketing over other business options is that the success of the person above you doesn't ride on your ability to deliver results. There is no pressure for you to reach out to long lost relatives and strangers on the street to hawk your goods so that your sponsor will get the shiny new sports car. You are in the driver's seat to be the driving force behind your own success when it comes to affiliate marketing.

This doesn't mean to disrespect MLM or those who have made impressive livings in direct sales, MLM, or other network marketing ventures. That doesn't mean that there aren't many benefits to consider when you are exploring your options for making money online. Affiliate marketing presents a very real opportunity to people from all walks of life to make money from home. Only you can decide if it's the best method for you.
